Activities

Training
We take volunteers who are experts in different areas to train kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers, school principals and firefighters. In this way, literacy and specialized knowledge are increased in different areas, from a human and sustainable perspective.

Capacity building
Cooperating directly with different schools, we identify needs, look for solutions and apply them together with school directors. From school furniture to the implementation of electricity, sanitation and maintenance of structures, on the one hand we support regular needs, on the other hand we design the ideal school model for each community.

Material donation
We collect materials in Portugal, identified as useful and important support for schools, teachers, orphanages, children, and families. We distribute the materials to schools in Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe, and Mozambique. Our distribution is direct and has a local team, ensuring that the materials reach their destination and represent an important contribution to everyone. Protecting schools means protecting families and the community, contributing to their development.

Schools Network in Guinea Bissau
We promote the creation of a network of schools in Guinea-Bissau, in order to reduce the vulnerability of altogether, a group with greater potential than the sum of its parts. We support the development of this network and its local, regional, and national institutionalization.

ÚNICA GODMOTHER
We identify extremely needy children in schools in Guinea-Bissau and seek to ensure their school attendance, access to school materials, clothing, among others. We look forward to opening up this service in the future for a personalized sponsorship service. For now, we see the ÚNICA GODMOTHER group as a group that requires greater attention and support. There are 77 children benefiting from this project.

Peruvian non-formal School
In a community native to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, we support a local healer with whom we became friends. With adequate training, Lúcia identifies needy children who do not attend school and gives the first lessons in these children’s lives. The objective is to support the process of enrolling these children in the local school.

Queteba School
We collaborate with the local community in a remote northern Guinean village – Queteba – to create the first local primary school, channeling in-kind support and training. This village is quite isolated and with all the potential for sustainable development. The creation of an informational board with historical facts about the village, an organic vegetable garden, and the relationship with the soil in a sustainable way are part of the current projects.

Raising awareness
Raising awareness of human rights, gender equality, sustainable development, children nutrition, garbage handling, international inspiring projects, UN’s sustainable development goals… This promotes civil participation and critical mass, among several outputs for the local creation of development goals by being aware of what’s happening in the global development thinking.

Campaings
There are always ongoing campaigns and ways to collaborate. Collection of materials, fundraising for specific purposes or registration of volunteers can be consulted on the collaborate page.

Volunteering
We are looking for volunteers in all countries. In Portugal you can collaborate in the creation of events or in the preparation of materials to send to the recipients. You can also travel with us or towards one of our destinations. You can also become an ambassador promoting the resolution of problems that we have identified, work on research, support vulnerable groups or groups of volunteers!

Library
The unfinished half of our delegation in Bissau will become a public library with a very special theme: a meeting and support space for primary teachers and kindergarten teachers.

Dry Toilets
Looking to contribute to the terrible fact that many schools do not have toilets, we started the project of dry toilets that will create fertilizer for organic gardens developed by schools.
